Admin's not here right now, so as "Global Moderator" I'm taking this liberty and starting my own thread (mostly I'm just bored and feel like I should be contributing more to the site).
So, in the spirit of making friends, feel free to introduce yourself!
Oh, and follow my basic setup:
Name
Hi~ my name's Kristienna, Kea for short =3
Location
I currently live in California although I was born in Sydney, Australia and have lived there for half of my life.
School Stuff/Interests
I've been studying Japanese for three and a half years and have traveled to Japan twice, so sometimes I act a bit like a Caucasian-Asian although I'm really just a whitey. I've been playing flute for over six years now and play in my school's wind ensemble, and I also play the piccolo in the marching band. I'm an AP student and always have a butt-load of homework, so apologies if I don't post much during the school week. My favorite classes are APEnglish, Japanese, and wind ensemble =) Oh, and I'm a junior in highschool ^^
PS I used to take art when I was living in Australia, but when I started school in America I couldn't fit it into my schedule. But jsyk, I'm a little bit of an artist, too =)
Hobbies/Extra Curricular Stuff
I want to be a creative writing/English major and hopefully *crosses fingers* be an author one day. My favorite genre is fantasy, but don't worry, I don't plan on being the next Stephenie Meyer (although her fame would be nice... and all that money... JK!! XP). I love reading but don't really have a specific favorite book or series, although at the moment I'm reading the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind (I'm up to Chainfire, though, so only three more to go!) and I also love the series Tales of the Otori by Lian Hearn, the Inheritance Trilogy (Christopher Paolini), Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson (haven't read Peter and the Shadow Thieves yet, but it's sitting on my shelf!), Bram Stoker's Dracula and Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire (and yes, unfortunately, I did also enjoy the Twilight Saga, but I don't prescribe to the fan-girl cult following that Meyer's got going on), and of course Harry Potter. I've enjoyed a ton of other stuff too, but I'm not sure how many more titles I should write without feeling like I'm rambling. Oh, one more shout-out though: Beauty by Robin McKinley, which I haven't read in a while but remember being fantastic ... oh and The Princess Bride by William Goldman!! And Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley!!!! And...
I think you sense my problem with choosing a favorite novel.
... Princess Academy by Shannon Hale is good, too.
Additional Information
I love writing but tend to get so passionate about it that I ramble. Make sure you tell me when it becomes too much!! (Just do it kindly, because chances are you'll be doing it alot
I also own a dog, three cats, two birds, and two fish. The birds are my own, two cockatiels named Caravel and Ketch, as well as one of the fish, my beta Kyosuke. My family also fosters kittens from the pound, so sometimes we have as many as 10 cats in our house. Let me know if you're ever looking to adopt a kitten! =D
And that, my friends, is how it's done
Feel free to post your own introduction, making it as snazzy as you want. (And you may post as many book titles as you want, too, but if you post more than me I WILL come back with more and beat you!)
... perhaps I should make an entirely new conversation about book titles ... I'll let y'all know if Admin says I can ;D
